Point guard Chris Duhon has agreed to sign with the Knicks.
Duhon will reportedly receive a two-year deal starting at the full mid-level exception. The total contract value will be approximately $12 million.
"I am just excited, I am ready to get to work for the Knicks," Duhon said. "It's a big stage, playing in New York. It's something every player in the NBA wants."
"Chris could have shopped himself around more, but in the end, he wanted a fit where he felt comfortable and he knew what kind of opportunity he would be getting," Duhon's agent, Kevin Bradbury, said. "He wasn't worried about trying to find more money on the market or anything like that. He wanted the right situation, and this just felt like the right situation."
Beasley Has A Fractured Sternum

Heat rookie forward Michael Beasley says that he has a slightly fractured sternum, according to The South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
He wrote in his blog that it is "a very, very slight fracture of the sternum."
Beasley returned to noncontact drills after getting elbowed in the chest by a teammate on Wednesday.
"They're going to keep me out of contact for 3-5 days just to be safe. By that time the very slight fracture will have healed," he wrote in his blog.
Davis Confident He'll Playing With Brand

He took a pay cut, agreeing to a five-year, $65 million with the Clippers, after turning down $17.8 million to play for Golden State next season.

"I cant wait to have an opportunity to play with one of the best big men in the game and one of the best underrated big men in the game," Davis said. "It's really a big reason why I wanted to do it. Just having somebody I can give the ball to and make plays."
"I'm not worried," Davis added. "He has to make the decision that's best for him and we all have to respect that. But it would be great to have him with the Clippers. To have him on the court, the possibilities are endless to be able to win a championship."
Sonics Sign Westbrook And White

General Manager Sam Presti announced today that Russell Westbrook and D.J. White have both been signed to multi-year contracts.
Westbrook was selected with the fourth overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft on June 26.
White was acquired from the Detroit Pistons in exchange for the 32nd (Walter Sharpe) and the 46th (Trent Plaisted) picks in the 2008 NBA Draft. The Pistons originally drafted White with the 29th overall pick. Per team policy, terms of the contracts were not disclosed.
As a sophomore at UCLA, Westbrook was named Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year and earned Third Team All Pac-10 honors. Westbrook led the team in assists with 4.3 apg, and ranked third in scoring with 12.7 ppg.
White spent four seasons at Indiana University. He earned consensus Second Team All-America honors as a senior after averaging 17.4 ppg and 10.3 rpg. White was also named Big Ten Player of the Year and earned First Team All-Conference honors.
Earl Watson Undergoes Thumb Surgery

General Manager Sam Presti announced today that guard Earl Watson underwent successful surgery yesterday in Los Angeles for a fracture of the right thumb.
Watson suffered the injury on Monday while preparing for the upcoming season in a basketball game in Los Angeles. Watson is expected to make a full recovery and be available for the start of the 2008-09 season.
Last season, Watson averaged career highs in points (10.7), assists (6.8), rebounds (2.9) and minutes (29.1). Over his seven-year NBA career, Watson has averaged 7.4 ppg, 4.5 apg and 2.2 rpg in 529 games.
Agent: Heat Interested In Dooling

Williams Hopes To Win Back Pacers

Williams endured a pair of brushes with the law this past season and claims he understands where Bird is coming from.
"He's got a job to do, and I've got a job to do. I didn't lose no respect for Larry," Williams said. "He's just doing his job. And he's right."
He hopes to not only win back the team's executives but also remain in good standing with the fans.
"I feel like I still have fans cheering for me when I come out (on the court). I'm not getting booed," Williams said.
"I feel like I earned the fans back a little bit. I just have to stay out of trouble and keep a clean nose."
Doc Rivers Calls Maggette About Contract

"I don't want to hold the Celtics up or [general manager] Danny Ainge," said Maggette. "I talked to Doc . . . I'm not going to hold them up. I know they are still looking at James Posey. But I'm still weighing my options."
The Celtics are pursuing both Maggette and Posey, but it's unlikely they'll be able to sign both.
Beasley Returns To Practice For Heat

The team who remains the Spurs' biggest rival for Maggette's services the Orlando Magic may drop out of the race all together if Chris Duhon chooses Orlando over New York.
It is believed that Boston has also offered Maggette their fill mid-level exception, and Maggette is considering the offer.
Barea To Sign With Mavs For Three Years

Arenas, Wizards Agree To $111M Deal

Arenas told the Post and the Washington Times on Thursday that he has agreed to re-sign for $111 million over six years, considerably less than the maximum deal he said the Wizards offered him when the free agency period began on Tuesday.
"I'm basically giving back $16 million," Arenas said. "This is in line with what I've been saying the whole time. You see players take max deals and they financially bind their teams. I don't wanna be one of those players and three years down the road your team is strapped and can't do anything about it."
